Description

The Zurn Wilkins 975XL2 is a reduced pressure zone assembly that protects potable water lines from both backpressure and back siphonage. It's rated for high hazard service, which is what most codes call for when the connected system could carry fertilizer, chemicals, or anything else you don't want reaching drinking water. It's the lead free replacement for the original 975XL, so if you're swapping one out to meet current code, this is the direct path.

What you get

  • Wye pattern bronze body with separate access to each check valve and the relief valve, so service takes less time and less labor
  • Checks serviceable in line, no need to pull the relief valve or take the assembly off the pipe
  • Short lay length, which makes it easier to drop into an existing run when you're replacing an older unit
  • Lead free cast bronze, certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and 372 at under 0.25% weighted average lead content
  • Full port quarter turn ball valve shutoffs on both ends
  • Four test cocks, ready to test as soon as it's in the line
  • Repair kits available, so a worn check or relief valve doesn't mean replacing the whole assembly
  • ASSE 1013 listed, CSA Certified B64.4, AWWA Compliant C511, cUPC and IAPMO listed, and approved by the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research at USC

Choosing your option

  • Sizes from 3/4" through 2", all with FNPT threaded connections
  • Standard: full port quarter turn ball valves
  • U: union ball valves, so you can break the connection without cutting pipe
  • SE: comes with 90° street elbows
  • SEU: street elbows plus union ball valves
  • FT: adds an integral male 45° flare SAE test fitting
  • Not sure which one matches your install? Get in touch and we'll help you sort it out

Where it gets used

  • Water service connections, protecting the public supply from contamination at the property
  • Irrigation systems, keeping fertilizer and chemical injection out of the drinking water line
  • Commercial and industrial process water
  • Residential installs wherever local code calls for high hazard backflow protection

Before you install

  • Mounts horizontally, 12" to 30" above an adequate drain
  • Needs enough side clearance to get a test kit on the cocks
  • The relief valve is designed to dump water when it opens, sometimes a lot of it, so size the drain for that
  • Cannot be submerged, which rules out most below grade boxes and pits
  • For indoor installs, use an air gap adapter so a discharge doesn't flood the space
  • Not freeze rated. If you're somewhere that freezes, plan on winterizing or pulling it seasonally
  • Most jurisdictions require an RPZ to be tested annually by a certified backflow tester after install
